AROMATHERAPY

Aromatherapy is a therapeutic practice which utilizes natural oils or their essences in applying various methods of healing. The oils are used in a variety of methods, all of which are beneficial to its users. These natural oils are obtained from plants and their many parts, from the flower head to the root. The plants can be harvested both from wild and cultivated plants, although most aromatherapists prefer the wild believing that the truest properties of the oils are present in this state.

Scientific research has proven that essential oils have incredible healing and medicinal properties. For this reason, scientists and chemists around the world have been trying to replicate the oils. They try to extract the properties THEY believe are most beneficial. That theory itself diminishes the effectiveness of using the oil as a whole. The balance of the oil helps eradicate its own side effects. When only one property is taken, basically out of context, the body must deal on its own with all the side effects resulting from not utlilizing the whole unit. We live in a society which expects instant gratification and results, not withstanding the longterm effects. There are no miracle cures, but in aromatherapy one may find the end result much more effective and therefore a more valid option, even if it takes a little more time.
